Distribution of Thanksgiving Baskets (November 2011 Newsletter)
On Monday November 21, the St. John of God Health Care Services community came together at Samaritans Helping Hand in Victorville to help make it possible for over two thousand people to have Thanksgiving dinner. Many due to these challenging economic times, Thanksgiving dinner has become a luxury that without programs like these they would have to go without. To say that Samaritans Helping Hand Thanksgiving Project was a success is an understatement. Samaritans Helping Hand project distributed Thanksgiving turkey baskets and turkeys to over six hundred high desert community households. This was made possible by the hard work of staff, volunteers and financial support from our community leaders. Leaders like, St. Mary Medical Center, Stater Bros.
Harvesting Hope Campaign, ICR Staffing of Victorville, Victor Valley Rotary Club, Steve Knight California State Assemblyman, Trinity Lutheran Church, Private community donators and the staff and volunteers are the true heros to so many in need this year.
